William Oviatt is based in Denver, CO. He graduated in 2021 with his BFA from the University of Utah

​In my work I find magic in capturing the human form through painting. The investigation, construction, and deconstruction of the human form through layers of brushstrokes and thick paint, the way an image falls apart or emerges out of color and shape based on a viewers perception, and how paintings are able to capture part of their creator in time within them, these aspects of art making are all magical to me and my work revolves around an obsession of seeing life emerge out of paint. I often tear down reality within my paintings as a way to let the viewer behind the scenes, both into my process but also into my mind and the images that seep out into the work.
